AI Slops & AI Fails

Longest sentence by a parrot

A screenshot, aptly shared in the "GoogleAIGoneWild" subreddit (an online forum), captures the following mishap: Google's Gemini claims the longest sentence ever spoken by a parrot is "Give orange me give eat orange me eat orange give me eat orange give me you." But as the AI tool immediately clarifies, this quote is not from a bird at all, but from Nim Chimpsky, a chimpanzee using sign language. Basically, one could say that it was neither a parrot nor a (verbally expressed) sentence. One may also note that Gemini attributes the source just vaguely to "Reddit" by confusing a user's post with the platform itself, though that user seems to have quoted Wikipedia, which in turn cited a scientific study. It's a bit like having a student who's great at quoting but bad at citing (especially: in the correct context). The sentence itself seems to make more immediate sense than the AI's explanation of it.
