When a Fox Becomes a Plant
A user uploads a winter scene of a fox basking in a gentle snowfall, with the face turned upwards and the eyes closed, clearly enjoying the moment. When asked to describe the image, the AI model confidently explains: "The image shows the process of photosynthesis, whereby green plants convert sunlight into chemical energy stored in glucose molecules using carbon dioxide and water as reactants."
In reality, this sunlight-powered process is a trick foxes have yet to learn. How comes, then, that the AI "synthesised" that "photo" (ha!) with this wrong explanation? This mix-up likely stems from the AI's tendency to latch onto keywords like "light" and "sun" while ignoring the broader visual context. The result is biologically implausible, but who knows, maybe somewhere out there, a very special fox is quietly turning sunlight into sugar.
